Before becoming a full-time artist, I studied architecture and worked as an architect for many years. Architecture taught me to observe closely proportions, structure, light, balance and the small details that bring a space together.

Watercolor eventually became the place where I could explore those same qualities more intuitively.

What began as a side project gradually grew into my artistic practice, and I eventually exchanged architectural drawings for watercolor palettes, developing a body of work centred around animals, birds, nature, botanical subjects and the world beneath the water.

 

Painting the natural world

I work primarily in watercolor, using transparent layers, delicate washes and detailed brushwork to bring animals and natural subjects to life.

I'm particularly drawn to the character of animals their expressions, gestures, textures and small individual details. Whether I'm painting a commissioned pet portrait or developing an original collection of birds and wildlife, I try to retain that sense of individuality rather than simply reproducing an image.

My work includes original watercolor paintings, custom pet portraits, wildlife and nature artwork, surface pattern designs and artwork created for licensing.

For art collectors, I create original watercolor paintings and limited works inspired by animals, birds and the natural world.

For pet parents, I create custom watercolor pet portraits from photographs, personal paintings made to preserve the character and memory of a much-loved companion.

For brands, publishers and licensing partners, I develop original watercolor artwork and surface pattern collections for applications including home décor, stationery, textiles, packaging, paper goods, publishing and lifestyle products.

I enjoy working with people and brands who value thoughtful, hand-painted artwork and the character that traditional watercolor brings to a product or collection.

 

A little more about my work

My subjects often move between the familiar and the imagined from a carefully observed bird or animal to whimsical underwater scenes and nature-inspired collections.

There is a common thread through all of them: a fascination with the natural world and a love for translating it into watercolor.

Today, my practice brings together my background in architecture, my love for animals and nature, and my interest in creating artwork that can live both as an original painting and as part of a wider creative application.
